Mandy's Soul Food Kitchen

This is my first time ordering food from Mandy’s. I ordered the three catfish steak platter with two sides and cornbread. For the sides, I got greens and cabbage. The catfish steaks were thick, had the perfect flavor, and were breaded just right. The greens were to die for, and the cabbage was just as good! The cornbread was ok. It was a little soggy, but that could have been because I ordered my meal to go. The staff was extremely personable and made the experience that much better. The only downside was the wait time. It took about 30 minutes to get my food. I arrived at 515, though, so I’m sure it is their busy time. Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my experience eating here and will return when I’m in the area.

This is a very good place for Soul Food lovers. They have a diverse menu as well as the traditional menu items you would want at a soul food restaurant. I had the beef short ribs that were awesome with gravy while the meat was tender. My sides were dressing, and mac-n-cheese (also awesome). My wife had the smothered pork chops with cabbage and mash potatoes which were extra tender also. The entrees comes with two sides and a cornbread muffin, so plenty of food to eat and go home with. We dined in and my family got water and I got koolaid (yes it was red). My only recommendation would be to have a designated person to serve people who dine in because they have one person multi-tasking with taking orders and serving customers, so the service can be a bit slow. However you can always avoid that, and do take-out.

Everything was hot and fresh. The flavor of the food was pretty good. It was my first time at Mandy's, and I definitely would go back again. I ordered three meals, two were catfish, mac n cheese, and sweet potatoes, and the other was salmon and greens. Latrice took my order, and she was very pleasant and friendly!

The food was excellent. In my group, we ordered smothered pork chops, grilled pork chops, smothered chicken, and ox tails. The sides were tasty and the portions were generous. Everyone was satisfied with their choices. Our server, Patrice had lots of personality and took great care of us!

Stopped in for dinner recently. Greeted with friendly smile and patience. Ordered and found a table and waited. The atmosphere was comforting with an old school restaurant vibe. Just reminded you of that neighborhood family restaurant that everybody loved. They had old Motown hits playing in the background. One found themselves, singing and tapping their feet with anticipation of a good meal. After a not long of a wait my catfish dinner arrived. This was anticipated when ordering catfish. And let me tell you piping hot golden fried fluffy seasoned to perfection fish is what you want! From the first bite to the last was like yummy yum yum . Needless to say my meal was fantastic. Every bit of home style cooking and taste that one can remember. The cabbage and candied yams were beyond delicious also. This is such amazing spot that includes a variety of options. Everyday has a special of the day. Which is nice to have options. Btw did I mention, they had banana pudding, lemon cake, and peach cobbler. However I did not get to try, my friend did and loved it. This is why I will be returning soon. Like real soon.

Went here for dinner for the first time tonight. I got the short rib dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, creamed spinach and an extra side of candied yams. It also came with a corn muffin. My husband got the fried lobster tail dinner with mashed potatoes and gravy, as well as mac and cheese. The short ribs looked so good, I actually changed my order to get them. I was originally going to get the catfish. The short ribs are tender and flavorful. The gravy is rich and has pieces of onion and bell pepper. My only complaint about it is that I think it was a little too salty. The creamed spinach wasn’t what I expected. The cream part was very watery so it was just like eating steamed spinach. It did taste good though! The macaroni and cheese was excellent! The star of the show was the YAMS. Very sweet, very seasoned. Very clove heavy. Tastes like dessert, but was a welcomed change from the saltiness of the meat. The fried lobster was fried lobster so of course it was good. The service was good! They’re friendly. We will definitely return to try more of the menu. Their mac and cheese, yams and corn muffins are also toddler approved.
